Gearing Up

It’s about that time for school to start and if you are anything like me, you love seeing other’s homeschool curriculum choices. That is exactly what this post is all about. Provided that this post is concerning curriculum, I want to share a little tip concerning my timing on purchasing curriculum.

I typically purchase my curriculum in April and May during the closing of our previous homeschool year. I find that I run into fewer backorders and have plenty of time to make changes if needed. As can be seen below, we have a packed, but exciting 6th-grade year planned. Let’s jump in and see what we have in store.

Morning

This coming school year I am doing something a little different. First, I will be adding an extra curriculum to our morning routine. In addition to his Veritas Press Self-Paced Bible curriculum, Noah will spend 20 minutes listening to the audio of the Story of the World. We will complete all 4 volumes this school year. This is something I know he enjoys and it will be a relaxed way to start each morning.

Daily

After Noah completes his Bible time and then the 20 minutes of The Story of the World, he will then begin to work with his core curriculum. This year, we have decided to continue with A.C.E. We enjoy the method and approach this curriculum uses to help the student master the content presented. Therefore, we will be using A.C.E. for English, Word Building, Literature & Creative Writing, Science, Social Studies, and new for us this year, A.C.E. Math.

Summary

In addition to the curriculum listed above, we will also be adding in a few extras and I will cover those in the next blog post. It’s truly hard to believe that Noah has entered the Middle School years. How in the world did that happen?!?!

I’d love to hear what milestones you have reached in each of your own families. Of course, I’d also love to hear what curriculum choices you have made as well. I pray you each have a wonderful, fruitful, and blessed school year.
